The Women In Black (2012)

This opening scene is of 3 girls playing with there dolls. The 3 girls are playing happily and then they stand up, drop there cups, walk over and smash the porcelain dolls, walk up to the window, open it and then jump. You then hear a women scream " aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, MY BABIES"  this is the only bit of dialogue in this opening sequence. The camera then zooms out and a figure comes into view dressed in a black floaty dress. The suspense in this scene is built by the music which is slow and creepy. As you get further into this scene the music gets louder right up until the point when they jump then stops and you hear the mother scream. Another way this opening sequence is when the children look straight at the camera then at the window just before they stand up.This sets up the whole story as you see the women in black in the room and this makes you want to carry on watching to find out what part she played in this opening scene. There is no titles in this first scene they come later on in the film. The music in this opening sequence is the main thing for building the suspense. All the sounds in this opening scene is the music, the mothers scream and also you hear as the girls are playing, you hear things bang together and smash as they drop them or walk over them. This is a very good opening as it build suspense and makes you want to watch on as it dosn't give away to much of what is going to happen but it dose give vague details into what the plot is about. The camera work in this opening scene helps build the suspense by using a range of different camera angles from close ups of the tea cups to mid shots of the girls plating

This mean that if you want to use that piece of work you have to ask permission of the copyright holder and if they let you, you must credit them for that work. This means that for example song are copyrighted by the label this means if a artist outside that label wants to recored that song they mush ask the owning label and the credit them on the album for the privilege of using the song.

Certification is putting a appropriate age rating onto this media so that it can only be seen by the target audience. There is a few different certifications that can be put on these forms of media for U which stands for UNIVERSAL and is appropriate for all ages  to 18 which is a age limit on how old you should be to see this piece of media. There is a few in between these which lower that age limit if appropriate.

Doctor Who Analysis

This is an Analysis of the The Doctor Who episode called "The Asylum Of The Daleks". This is First episode of the seventh series of Doctor Who. This episode aired on the first of September in the UK. This episode shows The Doctor being captured by the Daleks along with his two companions who are not only in this story line they have there own sub plot to do with there divorce and taken to the Parliament of the Daleks to help save them.

Narrative

The Main Plot in this episode is the Doctor, Amy & Rory being taken from present day earth to the Daleks Parliament. This was because the Daleks had received a transmission from The Asylum. The Asylum is where the Daleks keep there defective counterparts.
The Doctor is tasked to go to the Asylum and destroy it. He manages to contact to source of the transmission and find out the it is Oswin (Souffle Girl). Once beamed onto the asylum the Doctor and Amy land fairly close together and meet a guy called Harvey who was on star liner Alaska which crashed into the Asylum. The Doctor and Amy then find out that Harvey has been turned in to a Dalek puppet buy the nanogene cloud. Once inside the asylum Amy realizes that the bracelet she had been given to protect her from this nanogene cloud was missing and she slowly started to make this change from human to Dalek puppet. Finally after a struggle trough the asylum The Doctor find Oswin only to find she inst in human form but she has gone trough a full transformation to Dalek cyborg rather than a Dalek Puppet like the rest of the humans on the asylum without special bracelets. Oswin Agrees to deactivate the force field so that The Doctor, Amy & Rory can get off the Asylum before it gets blown up along as he remembers who she is.

The Subplot in this episode is the story of Amy & Rory's divorce, This runs linear to the main plot as although it is a separate story the main plot wouldn't work without it. This Plot is where Rory hands Amy the divorce papers they are both taken by the Daleks to the Dalek Parliament where they meet up with the doctor for the first time in the episode. The feeling is played on between the two is played on throughout the episode especially when Amy thinks she has lost her bracelet and Rory is trying to give his to her. By the end of the episode they both seem happy together when the doctor drops them off home in the TADIS.

Doctor Who is a ongoing serial drama and you can tell this from when Amy is on her little "Trip" seeing people rather than Daleks. if you had seen Doctor Who before you may recognize some of these people as people who were defeated by the Daleks, but if you hadn't seen it before you can still make that assumption and the episode will still make sense..


Representation

In this episode the Doctor is represented as quite a 'upbeat', happy person who isn't scared when faced with this sort of danger as he has had many years of facing the same sort of dangers this is done very well quite early on in the episode when Rory asks Amy how much trouble they are in, and then the Doctor walks in with his Dalek escorts and says " How much trouble Mr Pond................ Out of 10 ..........11". This along with his eccentric Suits and wacky hair represents him in quite a qwerky way.


In this episode Amy is represented as a very strong, Hard, interdependent women. This is by having her dressed in black leather. During the photo shoot scene there is a lot of bright obvious shots and also a lot of in your face sort of angles this makes Amy look very big, sexy and also very important She plays up to the stereotypical Scottish women very well as in the fact she is quite abrupt about the way she says things. She is represented as a very sexy young women and also that she even though she is in the process of divorce with Rory could pick any man she wanted. This makes her subplot mean more in the fact yes she probably could have any man she wanted and yes still she loves Rory to much to divorce him.

Rory is represented in quite a funny way in this episode as he isn't meant to be to serious about the whole situation. A lot of Rory's lines are meant to make people laugh and almost pitty his incompitance. This is shown superbly well during the scene when Rory wakes up the Daleks and they are trying to say 'EXTERMINATE' but Rory thinks they are saying " EGGS" this makes Rory look stupid and causes the audience to laugh at him. A lot of the shots on Rory are high angle shots as this makes him seem quite little compared to the Doctor and Amy when in fact he is very important to the Divorce Subplot.

Stunt Coordinators - Usually an experienced stunt performer who casts and arranges the performance of the stunt(s).

Assistant Director - Tracks the progress of the production against the schedule, also arranging logistics and organising the cast and crew.

Location Manager - Responsible for finding (location scouting) and booking/securing locations for filming. They also act as a link between the production company and the community, addressing any kind of issues that could arise during filming.

Production Manager - Performs deals concerned with business about the crew, and organises the technical needs of the production. These range from gaining the correct equipment with the exact technical requirements; to arranging accommodation for the cast and crew. They report their expenses and needs to the Line Producer.

Production Assistant - Set PAs’ duties include echoing (calling out) "rolls" and "cuts", locking up (making sure nothing interferes with a take), wrangling talent and background, facilitating communication between departments and distributing paperwork and radios.

Script Editor - Work closely with the producer of the show while also working with the script writers to ensure the script is suitable for production in a practical sense, by ensuring the episode has the correct runtime and continuity for example. They also suggest improvements with the script in terms of story.
Camera Operator - Responsible for physically operating the camera and maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot. They also collaborate with the director and the rest of the crew with creative decisions.

Focus Puller - Ensure that the shot is in focus thus shifting it when the actor(s) move different distances from the camera. Focus pullers are also responsible for the maintaining of and ensure the correct setup and preparation of the camera equipment.

Grip - In the UK, grips are responsible for camera mounting and support. In the US and Canada however, grips are also lighting and rigging technicians as well as performing the same duties as those of the grips in UK film and television.

Set Dresser - Ensure that room is made for the filming equipment on location while also placing all set objects in the right place to coincide with the script and maintain continuity as most scenes are shot out of order. Set dressers sometimes help with the construction of small technical rigs such as lighting and air con systems.

Graphic Designer - Uses graphic design principles for filmmaking, usually applied to the titles of the show using kinetic typography and graphics.

Prop Maker - Fabricates and assembles props and miniatures from a variety of materials. Analyses sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions to determine type props and other materials needed and equipment required.

Dubbing Mixer - Works with all aspects of sound (dialog, music and sound FX) in post production. They ensure the sound is mixed correctly, that the sound is as close as possible to the directors original idea and that sounds are accurate to their environment; i.e. footsteps in a large, empty warehouse reverberate.

Foley Artist - Creates and records the sound effects added to the show in post production such as footstep and rustle of clothing as well as creating other sounds that cannot be produced during the shooting of a scene, such as punches landing in a fight scene or screeches in a car chase.

ADR Editor - ADR stands for Automatic Dialogue Replacement. This is the process for replacing dialogue that has been recorded incorrectly during filming with additional recordings of actors voices and putting these into place during editing in post production. The ADR editor oversees the recording of new audio and then replaces it with the corrupted dialogue, ensuring the audio is synced with the video.
